Emotion Regulation: Imagery, Movement, and 7 Galaxies Away…A Somatic Approach

Presenter: Colleen DeRango, MA, LISAC, SEP, The Meadows

Colleen DeRango has her Masters in Psychology with a Marriage and Family emphasis. She also is trained in EMDR and is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and is licensed in the state of Arizona as a Substance Abuse Counselor (LISAC). She co-founded the “Spirit: A Somatic Equine Workshop” offered by the Meadows, where she and her horse trainer, who is also SE-trained, integrate SE with the most gifted clinicians of all …horses. Colleen has been with the Meadows for 14 years, and has served The Meadows patients as a Family, Survivors, and Primary Counselor, until May of 2004, when The Mellody House extended care for trauma healing opened. It was here that she began specializing in trauma healing, and later, began integrating her knowledge of trauma healing in her own life as a budding horsewoman. Colleen currently runs the Somatic Equine Program at the Remuda Life Program, which is the extended care program for Remuda Ranch, where she also teaches the Meadows Model, and provides EMDR and SE for patients.
