What is Suboxone?

Suboxone, also known as buprenorphine and naloxone, is an opioid medication used to treat an opiate addiction. It is often times used as a pain medication.

Suboxone is only available from certified medical professionals and treatment facilities and is unable to be purchased over the counter. When taking Suboxone, it is important to do so as directed by medical professionals. The misuse of such prescriptions, like any other substance, can be harmful if not monitored carefully.

Suboxone Side Effects

As with most opiates, such as Methadone, physical and long-term dependency is a concern. If Suboxone is used for an extended period of time or if it is abused in any way, heavy withdrawal symptoms may occur.

Most common side effects include:

• Tongue pain
• Headaches
• Constipation
• Mild nausea
• Vomiting
• Insomnia
• Swelling in your legs or arms
• Increased sweating

Taking too much Suboxone can result in your body having a negative reaction.

Immediately contact your doctor or seek emergency medical care if you experience one or more of the following symptoms:

• Drowsiness
• Extreme weakness
• Light-headed feeling
• Upper stomach pain accompanied by nausea
• Loss of appetite
• Shaking or shivering
• Muscle pain
• Feeling of extreme hot or cold
