Sex Addiction Program in AZ

About Our Sex & Pornography Addiction Rehab Program in Arizona

Since 1988, Prescott House has provided unparalleled inpatient services to men struggling with intimacy issues and their families, both nationally and internationally.  Sex addiction and correlated intimacy disorders can run rampant through the lives of the individual, causing loss of relationships, self-esteem, and confidence.  We aim to treat the individual, and our treatment plans are tailored around the specific differing needs that each person presents.  Through our program of recovery, thousands of men have restored their lives and found lasting success.

We strive to consistently innovate with new and existing treatment modalities, incorporating somatic experiencing, and brainspotting into our renowned trauma therapy to uncover the root causes of sex addiction.  Prescott House operates off the 30 task model pioneered by Dr. Patrick Carnes, from identifying addiction processes, to resolution, and creating new healthy behaviors.  We staff multiple Certified Sex Addiction Therapists, or CSATS, with intimate knowledge of the disease of sex addiction.  Our caring therapeutic staff brings decades of experience into the recovery sphere for those suffering from their cyclical behaviors.

Throughout the years, we have found that long-term recovery is best achieved through long-term treatment, in a nurturing and therapeutic environment.  Prescott House has become adept over the years in addressing parallel mental health issues with psychotherapy combined with psychiatry in treating depressive disorders, PTSD, and personality disorders.  We believe that addressing these maladies is paramount in creating a wholistic individual, restoring confidence and self esteem in the new life of abstinence.

In addition, confronting and healing familial relationships is a point of emphasis for any individual in our program.  Establishing new patterns and communication is important for sustainable recovery.  We have regular communication with members of the family, culminating in a family session at our facility to renew and restore bonds.  This is paramount to ensure the individual and the family has the support they need post-discharge from our program.  We aim to prepare our clients thoroughly with a strong plan of action, setting them up with a support system to better help them navigate their new lives in recovery.

What is Porn Addiction?

Viewing of pornography has become increasingly prevalent in our society. With increasing access to porn, many have developed problematic behaviors surrounding their porn use. Viewing sexually explicit materials has been correlated with increased dopamine production in the brain, as well as increased levels of norepinephrine, serotonin, and endorphins. Individuals start to use pornography more and more, chasing the pleasurable effects of dopamine hits, with diminishing and lessened dopamine returns as time goes on.

Porn addiction is not officially recognized as a clinical diagnosis, but the behaviors fall under compulsive sexual behavior disorder. “Compulsive sexual behavior is a phenomenon characterized by a persistent failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges, resulting in repetitive sexual behavior that causes marked distress or impairment in personal, familial, social, educational, or occupational areas of functioning.”

Sometimes the line can be blurred between healthy sexual behavior and compulsive (acting out) sexual behaviors. Often, the acceleration of behaviors into compulsivity can be unrecognizable to the individual until they start to experience consequences of their behavior. The early signs can often mimic escapism, behaviors that are leaned upon when an individual experiences  anxiety, depression, or to deal with trauma or PTSD. Many define their addiction as ‘ritualistic and progressive,’ watching pornography on a regular basis, in increasingly shorter intervals. At this juncture, they may be past the point of no return without professional help and support.

Once the behaviors increase in frequency, the individual starts to lean on acting out with explicit media as their primary coping mechanism in their day to day life. They may become unsatisfied with the decreasing dopamine returns, and seek out increasingly more risk-related behaviors in an attempt to duplicate their earlier euphoric experiences with pornography. Individuals may seek out more intense or even illegal pornography to satisfy their increased appetite. This is the at-risk point of the addiction, and they may start to neglect and disconnect from their familial relations, friends, or spouse.

Porn addiction is a progressive disease, that without intervention and treatment, will only get more debilitating with time. Studies have indicated that group therapy is the most effective addiction intervention.

Prescott House provides support groups for those men struggling, feel free to reach out today to a member of our compassionate admissions staff if you or someone you know is struggling with this disease.

This is a wonderful location for men, looking for long term sobriety. The staff at the center, truly do care for the patients, they are also treated like family. The staff will go out of their way, to make the men feel welcome and at home. They will receive wonderful treatment and counseling, with a clinical team. The staff will also do whatever possible to help the men out financially, if possible. I would highly recommend this treatment center for any man, truly looking for recovery.

I went to Prescott House a broken man. I didn’t want to go and I didn’t think I needed it. Thank goodness my parents were strong enough to hold that boundary with me. It was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but this program provided me the structure and therapy I needed to live a better life where I was no longer a slave to substance use. I will forever be grateful for everyone at Prescott House.

This place saved life. It was it easy by any means but it was exactly what I needed. I can here after I did a 45 inpatient treatment facility and this place really helped me further my recovery. He also helped me get reintegrated into society so when I was able to leave getting a job wasn’t as stressful or anything of that nature. All the staff and counselors are awesome. The meetings out in that area are great, there is not one you can’t find and sometime of the day. If you are planning on a year or so treatment facility for transitional living I would suggest AFTER a 29-45 inpatient program I would suggest P-House, call and reach out to Geoff Patterson and he will guide you in the right direction! If I could give this place more that 5 starts I would!!!! 10 ⭐️!

I can’t thank The P House enough for what it did in my journey. I was in my late forties when I walked into the house. My life had crumbled all around me and I wanted to change my behaviors. After 30 days in a treatment center, I knew I needed something more to make a real change but didn’t know what that would look like. The Prescott House was recommended and after some quick research I committed to 3 months. I left my family and kids to take the chance to change my life. Needless to say, 7 months later, I completed the recovery program they had set for me, and I needed every day of it. Recovery is not a course or a quick fix, it’s a commitment and in my case lots of humility which I was reminded daily I had very little of…lol

The Prescott House saved my life.  I had struggled with addiction and mental illness for most of my adult life and when I arrived at the P House  I was desperate for help.  When I arrived I was shocked by the circumstances I had found myself in, but the professionalism, friendliness, and competency of the staff helped the transition be as smooth as possible.  The community of men was always supportive and welcoming and the quality of therapy was unparalleled.  At the P House I learned to shed my shame and also learned to love myself and others by feeling fully accepted by everyone in the community.  I honestly can't recommend the program enough - it works if you work it!

I had a strong response to this Spring’s news of a pandemic: Our adult son is not on the street. The thought came to me again and again. Our adult son is not on the street. He is safe. He is healthy. He has the love of a good woman and a precious son. He is serving others as an essential worker. His father and I cannot imagine these last years being possible without his stay at Prescott House. Short-term rehab had not been enough to allow him to heal and begin the journey to the man he is today. The skillful staff at Prescott House provided a living model of life in recovery and the structure and support to pass their knowledge on to our son. They supported us as parents with compassion and gave us hope.
