When Weekly Therapy Isn’t Enough
Many men come to Prescott House after seeing a therapist for months or even years with limited progress. You aren’t "unfixable." You likely just need a different environment to heal.
- The "One-Hour" Problem: In outpatient therapy, you have one hour to process pain, and then you have to immediately go back to the stress of work, family, and bills. In a residential setting, you have 24/7 space to focus solely on healing.
- Breaking the Environment: Sometimes, your environment is the trigger. Stepping away from daily stressors allows your nervous system to finally downshift out of "fight or flight" mode.
- Psychiatric Stabilization: If you are struggling with Bipolar Disorder or severe depression, medication adjustments can be rocky. We provide 24/7 monitoring to ensure you stabilize safely and effectively.
If you or your loved one needs real change, we’re here to help.

Comprehensive Care for Men’s Mental Health
We treat high-acuity mental health challenges. While many of our clients also struggle with substance use (dual diagnosis), we treat the mental health condition as the primary driver.
- Depression & Mood Disorders: Treating the lethargy, hopelessness, and isolation that comes with Major Depressive Disorder.
- Anxiety & Panic: Helping men learn to regulate their nervous system without needing to escape or numb out.
- Complex Trauma (PTSD): Creating a safe container to process childhood or adult trauma that is impacting your current relationships.
- Bipolar Disorder: Providing the structure and routine necessary to manage the highs and lows of Bipolar I and II.
- Self-Medicating Behaviors: If you are using alcohol or drugs to cope with the above, we help you replace those chemicals with sustainable coping skills.
Breaking the Silence of Male Depression
Men often handle mental health struggles differently than women. We tend to isolate. We get irritable. We work harder to distract ourselves. At Prescott House, we break that cycle of isolation.
- You Don’t Have to Wear the Mask: In the outside world, you have to be the strong husband, the reliable employee, the stoic father. Here, you can just be human.
- Peer Support vs. Isolation: Depression thrives in the dark. Living in a community of men forces you into the light—in a supportive, non-judgmental way. You realize very quickly that you are not the only one struggling.
- Emotional Literacy: We teach men the vocabulary to identify what they are feeling. It turns out, "angry" isn't the only emotion allowed.

Therapies Designed to Restore Balance
Recovering from a mental health crisis requires a multi-layered approach. We combine advanced psychiatric care with therapies that teach you how to regulate your emotions and navigate stress.
- Psychiatric Stabilization:Mental health is biological as well as psychological. Our medical team works closely with you to review, adjust, or manage medications to ensure you have a stable chemical baseline to work from.
- Emotional Regulation (DBT):Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the gold standard for managing intense emotions. We teach you skills to tolerate distress and regulate your mood without spiraling.
- Trauma Processing (EMDR):If your anxiety or depression is rooted in past events, talk therapy often isn't enough. EMDR allows the brain to reprocess traumatic memories so they lose their power over your present life.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT):Depression lies to you. CBT helps you identify those negative thought loops ("I'm worthless," "It will never get better") and replace them with reality-based thinking.
Your Journey Back to Yourself
Mental health recovery isn't a straight line, but it does require a structured path. Our program is designed to move you from crisis management to sustainable living.
Phase 1: Assessment & Stabilization (Days 1–30)
- The Goal: Stop the bleeding.
- The Focus: We focus on getting your medication right, establishing a sleep routine, and calming the nervous system. You disconnect from the stressors of the outside world and just breathe.
Phase 2: Insight & Skill Building (Days 31–90)
- The Goal: Understand the "Why."
- The Focus: Why do you react the way you do? Why does the depression hit when it hits? In this phase, you gain insight into your patterns and practice the coping skills (DBT/CBT) needed to change them.
Phase 3: Purpose & Reintegration (Days 90+)
- The Goal: meaningful living.
- The Focus: A healthy life requires purpose. We help you transition back into employment, volunteer work, or education, ensuring you can handle real-world stress while still supported by the safety of the house.
Admissions: You Don’t Have to Figure This Out Alone

Taking time away from your life to focus on your mental health is a big decision, but it is often the decision that saves everything else. You might be worried about your job, your family, or the cost.
That is why our admissions process is simple, transparent, and human. When you call, you speak to Jon or a member of his team—men who understand that you are in pain and just want answers.
We Handle the Heavy Lifting:
- Insurance Verification: We can quickly check your benefits to see what mental health coverage is available to you.
- FMLA & Work Coordination: We can guide you on how to handle the conversation with employers regarding medical leave (FMLA) so your job is protected while you heal.
- Zero Pressure: This is a conversation to see if we are the right fit for you. If we aren't, we will help you find a place that is.
