A Foundation in Frontline Care

Before dedicating his life to behavioral health, Stephen spent over 15 years on the medical frontlines as a paramedic, emergency room nurse, and flight nurse. Operating in these high-stress environments taught him how to remain grounded and clear-headed in a crisis.

However, it was his time in the ER and flight medicine that exposed him to a deeper, quieter crisis. Watching dedicated colleagues and patients suffer from depression, anxiety, Substance Use Disorder (SUD), and PTSD, Stephen realized his true calling was in mental health intervention.

The Prescott House Approach: Balancing Empathy and Accountability

At Prescott House, Stephen is an invaluable part of our men's treatment team. He specializes in treating co-occurring disorders—such as severe anxiety or depression—that so often accompany gambling and sex addictions.

Stephen is known among our staff and alumni for his incredible ability to connect with the guys. He possesses a rare clinical gift: he knows how to balance exactly what a man in recovery wants with exactly what he needs. By establishing strong rapport and mutual respect, Stephen ensures that our residents receive safe, effective medication management without compromising the accountability required for long-term recovery.

Continuity of Care & Life After Treatment

‍The therapeutic bond Stephen builds with our guys is so strong that many alumni choose to continue their psychiatric care with him at his private practice, SA Psychiatry, long after they have completed their residential stay at Prescott House. This seamless transition provides crucial stability, ensuring that our men have consistent, trusted medication management during the vulnerable early stages of independent recovery.

Stephen is board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). His rigorous academic and clinical background includes:

• Post-Master's Certificate: Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Life Outside the Clinic

When he is not working with patients or collaborating with the Prescott House clinical team, Stephen is a devoted family man and father. He is an avid outdoorsman who finds his own grounding in nature, whether he is hunting, fishing, or spending time in the woods. This love for the outdoors makes him deeply relatable to the men we serve, bridging the gap between clinical provider and trusted mentor.
