Bobby Engel

Bobby Engel brings something to recovery work that cannot be taught in a classroom: he has lived it. A man in long-term recovery from compulsive gambling himself, Bobby has spent years working across nearly every level of residential treatment, building the kind of understanding that only comes from walking the same road as the men he now helps.

He began as a behavioral health technician, where he developed his core strength, genuine connection with clients at their most vulnerable. Since then he has served as a medical coordinator and a residential housing director, and today he facilitates group work for gambling and substance use disorders under the direction of Clinical Director Jeff Martin. That range gives him a ground-level view of how addiction moves through a person's life, and how recovery gets rebuilt one day at a time.

His focus is on men struggling with problem gambling, an addiction he knows from the inside. Bobby is known for building trust quickly and meeting people without judgment, with the conviction that a renewed sense of purpose is genuinely possible.

Bobby was featured in the Daily Courier discussing the rise of sports betting in Arizona. [Read the article.]
